Bio
The Pictographs are a Punk/Alternative Rock trio with musical roots from various bands from San Diego, Orange County, and Santa Cruz. The Pictographs were founded by original members Katherine Keil; (now Katherine Robershaw) and Jon Robershaw who through a craigslist musician's wanted ad in the summer of 2012 joined forces with Matt Koumaras.
They democratically write and prepare their songs, blending male and female vocals. Their sound is both gritty, raunchy and driven.
It evokes a mix of emotions and varies from dark, brooding, sadistic, and satirical to fun, playful and seductive.

In 2014 One of their songs "Misery of my Company" captured the listening ear of world renowned recording engineer and record producer Ed Stasium
( Producer of The Ramone's and Talking Heads, and many other rock n' roll legends.
Ed enlisted the aid of The Pictographs for the soundtrack of an independent dark comedy about date rape revenge called "Black Widows".

Ed Stasium musically directed the music for this film and ended up including another original song by The Pictographs" The Castration of Mr. Casanova" in the dark comedy.
It was written by Katherine Robershaw in collaboration with Ed Stasium and The Pictographs and was specifically inspired by the script for the film.
A 3 song EP recorded and produced by Ed is scheduled to Release in the Spring of 2017. Our Single " Misery of my Company" is scheduled to drop in late March.

In the Spring of 2016, The Pictographs played a Music and Movie mixer hosted by Intellexual Podcast in SD, CA. It was there that they were approached by a local film-maker, Jen McCleary Allen who wanted to partner with The Pictographs to make a music video.
​
Together they teamed up and enlisted the help of many talented individuals to produce "Misery of my Company". This music video was just recently featured during San Diego Film Week in February 2017 and will be available for public viewing late March 2017.
